At the heart of any home renovation is the desire for comfort, style, and function. A recent customer story highlights just how a well-planned bathroom renovation can transform a space, improving both the aesthetic and usability. In this case, the customer wanted to update their shower area with a modern, accessible design that would also incorporate high-quality materials.

The Demolition: Clearing the Old for the New

The first step in the renovation was demolition, a crucial part of any remodeling process. The existing shower pan, glass, surround, valve, and necessary tile flooring were removed, ensuring the space was prepared for the new installation. To minimize dust and disruption in the home, a HEPA dust collection system was used, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment throughout the process.

The New Barrier-Free Shower

The highlight of this project was the installation of a barrier-free shower, a growing trend for its sleek design and ease of accessibility. The walls were prepped with moisture-resistant greenboard, with backing installed to support future grab bars. A new, slip-resistant shower pan, measuring 42 x 48 inches, was installed to ensure safety and durability. A white composite stone pan was selected for its durability and sleek appearance.

To enhance the look, two walls were fitted with a white acrylic surround in a classic subway tile pattern. All joints and seams were sealed meticulously to prevent moisture buildup, ensuring the longevity of the installation.

The Shower Valve and Accessories

For an elevated shower experience, a high-quality shower valve was installed. This included a new shower head and handheld wand, both in a stylish brushed nickel finish. A key element of the renovation was the installation of grab bars and a folding shower seat to ensure accessibility. The customer selected ADA-compliant grab bars and a sturdy, wall-mounted folding seat for convenience and comfort.

Additionally, a brushed nickel shampoo niche was installed for extra storage, ensuring that the shower was both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Custom Glass Surround: Tailoring the Final Touch

While the customer arranged for the custom frameless glass surround, the renovation team ensured everything was prepared for the installation. Two-by-six backing was installed for the large door, ensuring it would be supported securely once the glass was in place.

Timelines and Project Flow

From the moment the project began, the customer was kept informed of the process and timeline. Material ordering takes approximately two to three weeks from the date of the deposit. The actual installation of the new shower system took around two to three days, with the custom glass taking an additional seven to ten business days for completion. During this time, a temporary shower curtain was hung for convenience.

One of the key aspects of this project was the attention to detail in scheduling. The renovation team ensures all materials are in place before starting the installation, minimizing inconvenience and ensuring a smooth, seamless process.

The Result: A Stylish, Functional Bathroom

The outcome was a beautiful, accessible, and functional shower area that perfectly suited the customer’s needs. With thoughtful design, durable materials, and expert installation, the renovated shower became the focal point of the bathroom—a place where style meets functionality and comfort.

This story is just one example of how a well-executed renovation can breathe new life into a space, making it both modern and practical. Whether you’re looking to upgrade a dated bathroom or create a more accessible space, a thoughtful renovation can help you achieve your dream bathroom.
