We began by clearing the way: the existing tub, surround, and plumbing fixtures were carefully removed, and all debris hauled away. With every project, cleanliness matters just as much as craftsmanship, so we used a HEPA dust collection system to minimize dust and keep the rest of the home as untouched as possible.
Once the space was cleared, the transformation began.
At the heart of the new bathroom is a sleek, barrier-free shower—spacious, secure, and built to last. We started by prepping the walls with moisture-resistant greenboard and reinforcing key areas with backing for grab bars. Then came the elegant composite stone shower pan, in a low-profile design for easy entry, and topped with a three-wall acrylic surround in a warm travertine color. Every joint was meticulously sealed, blending beauty with durability.
Functionality was key, so the shower valve was relocated to the larger back wall—within reach from the new floating seat—while the showerhead remained in its original location. A suction-mounted holder for the handheld wand allows for personalized positioning and flexible use, especially while seated.
Safety and style came together with the installation of a grab bar, secured with reinforced backing and mounted to meet ADA guidelines. It’s one of those features that doesn’t just add support—it adds peace of mind.
The finishing touches were just as thoughtful. A teak folding shower seat was installed, offering both comfort and space-saving convenience. A clear glass sliding door adds modern appeal while keeping the space bright and open, complete with a coating to reduce water spots. And a matching travertine corner shelf provides the perfect home for soaps and shampoos, tucked neatly within reach.
